What makes this model unique for the rugged edge?

“75% of the data process by 2025 will be done at the edge”

With the advent of artificial intelligence and machine learning, IoT devices and sensors are not only increasing but also generating much more data than ever before. AI and machine learning models are seeing a lot of use today to help analyze data in real-time and this data being generated is increasing. In video surveillance, these AI models are being used to process and analyze in real-time. As more and more AI models are being implemented, many applications are finding it increasingly difficult to find a balance between high performance processing and data storage. AI models generate vast amounts of data thus requiring expansive storage and low latency in order to deliver proper real-time results. Cloud computing was originally leveraged to process data-intensive workloads, but this method slowed delivery due to latency and could not be depended on in mission critical applications, where every second counts and can yield detrimental outcomes. With edge computers, the processing power is brought to the source of data and effectively helps tackle the limiting bandwidth and data processing balance that many businesses today are facing when implementing video analytics. In order to provide the rugged edge with technology to drive real time video surveillance and analytics, the RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E edge model was engineered to deliver not only powerful compute, but also the necessary storage, data redundancy, and connectivity in mission critical deployments. Vast modular I/O designs help integrators customize their specific edge applications by connecting high-definition cameras that feed valuable streams into a computing platform with Edge AI processing.

What are the unique key technologies of the RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E?

4 Key Hardware Designs for Optimal Data Storage, Versatile I/O, and Edge Analytics

1. Modular Bottom Piece - EDGEBoost Nodes with high-speed NVMe SSD Storage

Modular EDGEboost Nodes provide an advanced solution for powerful data processing with an easily accessible and hot-swappable NVMe Data Storage Cannisters to move mission critical data without having to shut down the system, improving overall uptime and productivity. The NVMe cannisters supports 4x U.2 NVMe SSDs to provide high speed read/write data storage and performance for mission critical data for real time processing. The NVMe data canisters also include the standard RCO-6000-CML series software development kit that provides programable logic to suspend all I/O transmissions and read/write operations in order to prevent the loss or corruption of data with a click of a button. A hot-swappable exhaust fan is also positioned in the computer to ensure optimal thermal regulation of NVMe SSDs and expansion card EDGEBoost I/O Modules.

2. EDGEBoost I/O for add-on scalability

Edge applications that require a variety of I/O connections to IoT sensors can also leverage Premio’s add-on modules. These add-on modules can be configured into the RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E and support up to 8x additional LAN & PoE in wired RJ45/M12 connectors, 8x USB 3.1 gen 2 ports, 4x 10GbE in RJ45 connectors, or even a 5G-ready module for low-latency wireless connectivity. In terms of edge AI processing, the computing system supports up to 4x Hailo-8TM processors that provide up to 104 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of performance and lower TDP (thermal design power) for inference analysis and object detection in real time.

3. PCIe expansion slots for Hardware RAID & High-Speed Network Add-on Cards

Full independent control of data storage and processing in a hardware RAID controller. Hardware RAID checks disks for consistency and allocates data between physical drives. In the event of any drives failing, the RAID controller can rebuild the failed array for data consistency. The other available PCIe x16 slot can be populated for applications that require scalable network cards for even faster performance and bandwidth speeds in 10/25/50/100/200G.

4. Built Rugged. Built Ready.

The RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E is manufactured with an industrial grade design that is purpose built for the rugged edge to ensure reliability in the harshest environments. The RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E can operate in wide temperatures (-25oC – 70oC), wide input voltages (9 – 48 VDC), and is shock/vibration resistant 20G Shock 3 GRMS Vibration.

What market need or void does this product fill/address?

1. Real-time, high-performance inference at the edge with M.2 acceleration

The RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E taps into edge AI by implementing hardware performance acceleration through supporting up to 4x Hailo-8 Processors. These AI accelerators help drive AI and machine learning models at a lower TDP. The high performance in M.2 accelerators helps power analytics at high speeds to deliver quicker results more accurately, improving real-time insights from surveillance and security video streams.

2. Data redundancy to protect and maintain mission critical information.

In many video surveillance applications, the large amount of data produced in security and surveillance must be stored and protected for extended periods of time. In mission critical deployments, the loss or corruption of data can result in drastic consequences. The RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E helps address the data-intensive storage needs in video analytics through its hot-swappable high density SATA storage that is supported with hardware RAID. The value proposition behind the RCO-6000-CML-4NH-1E rugged surveillance NVR is its high performance in compute, storage, and connectivity all within a ruggedized, semifanless design to help meet the challenges in bandwidth, connectivity, and data storage that video surveillance and analytics are facing today. Security and surveillance integrators and OEMs can use this ruggedized computing system as a building block for data processing, aggregation and even telemetry in remote/mobile deployments.
