Meet Gary Li
|
CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA-As Product Manager for desktops and notebooks for Premio California, Gary Li truly is a know-it-all of computer technology. Gary has been with Premio for over nine years where he first started out as the Supervisor of IQC and was also a Product Engineer before moving to his current position in the Product Management department. Garys strong technical background and foundation derives from his love of learning new technology.
PP: What do your job duties entail?
GL: My job duties cover five areas; platform development, product sourcing and planning, product qualification, product support and procedure development. With platform development, I lead cross-function teams to develop and manage desktop, workstation, notebook and thin client product lines from cradle to grave. With product sourcing and planning, I help get the right parts to meet customers special requests. I also monitor and control major component inventories of long lead-times and give our vendors forecasts and instructions. For product qualification, I test and measure all desktop, workstation, notebook and thin client components to make sure they meet their requirements and compliances. With product support, I provide support and resolve technical issues that may occur in assembly, design, materials or quality. Finally, with procedure development I develop, review and approve Standard Operation Procedures, Engineering Change Notices, Production Work Instructions and Production Assembly/Testing Procedures.
PP: What do you like most about working for Premio?
GL: The challenge. My job duties are a combination of several different roles so the huge work load often drives me crazy. On the other hand, the different roles I perform help to improve my Project Management, problem solving and interpersonal communication skills. I have in-depth knowledge of the industry and extensive experience in different roles.
PP: Please share any recent achievements or success stories.
GL: This year, the Product Management department consolidated many redundant components, simplified product lines, reduced operational and compone... Read More
